Summary and highlights of the second phase of implementation

TransWorld University had four major aspects and a total of 22 actions plans in the 2020 Higher Education SPROUT Project, which were 1) Applying teaching innovation and improving teaching quality for high-quality TransWorld University and advanced practical skills; 2) Enhancing the publicity of higher education to strengthen school affairs research and developing disadvantaged potential; 3) Developing school characteristics to add values of Taiwan and connect Southeast Asia countries; 4) Fulfilling social responsibilities of universities fully to deep cultivate in Yunlin and strengthen industry-university cooperation. There were eight action plans in the first major aspect that achieved important performances, including being the only one to pass the Yunlin County “Single-Level Care Attendant” examination area, the first long-term care worker instructor training course, and the ROTC special class ranked first among all universities in central Taiwan. Students had won 217 national and international awards, received 1758 professional certificates, and 95% of students received professional certificates before graduated. The College of Tourism and Hospitality also had passed the teaching quality assurance evaluation hold by the Taiwan Evaluation Society.

The second major aspect had completed four action plans that achieved important performance, including assisting disadvantaged students 819 times, accounting for 43.26% of all disadvantaged students; supporting local disadvantaged groups and raising the birthday gifts for disadvantaged families and children; holding children’s drawing competitions for six years; teaching rural school students to promote English service learning for five years; and faculty members seeking second expertise reached 131 applications.

The third major aspect had a total of 6 action plans that achieved important performance, including having successfully developed high-quality agricultural products; hold community and social groups 42 times; hold 12sessions of shared coaching and LOHAS resource activities; strengthen the rooted connection of technical and vocational education for university and secondary school teachers and students in the fields of professional skills, English listening, and professional English vocabulary with total 22 sessions and 1168 exchanges and mutual learning; deepen the cultivation of talents for Southeast Asian countries and international exchanges; and achieved 208 exchanges between overseas student clubs and high school vocational clubs.

The last major aspect had completed four action plans that achieved important performance, including having promoted the establishment of cultivating creative talents for the industries, the NTU Experimental Forest, the Yunlin County rescue and revitalization expert service team, and the Central District Innovation and Education Alliance; created a smart production and marketing; organized a summit meeting of the Innovation Alliance to create professional services and employment opportunities; actively cultivated talents for small and medium-sized enterprises; and organized six lectures and workshops to encourage the aboriginal people to work and study hard.
