Summary and highlights of the first phase of implementation

        In year 107 and 108, the Office of Higher Education Sprout Project at TransWorld University took “Quality Campus,” “Cultivate Locally in Yunlin,” “Increase Taiwanese Value,” and “Connect with Southeast Asia” as the four major aspects of the project. There were 32 action plans have been promoted to correspond to the four major goals of implementing teaching innovation and improving teaching quality, developing school characteristics, and fulfilling the social responsibility of university in response to the Higher Education Sprout Project.

        For “Quality Global,” there were 16 action plans to achieve important performances, which included promoting three-stage important measures for teaching quality assurance; drafting important performance indicators for teaching quality assurance; being approved to receive the WACS Culinary Education Recognition, which made TransWorld the only university in Taiwan that has passed the international World Chef Association education curriculum certification; being the only university in the central Taiwan passed the “Athletic Trainer Certificate” certified by the Sports Department of the Ministry of Education; receiving “Quality Assurance Certificate in Program of Business (QACPB)” and “IS50001 Energy Management System Certification”; and increasing students’ foreign language counseling results by 92% and 30% for students’ Chinese reading and writing skills. There were 448 students passed TWIT information ability certificates. There were 2,609 received professional licenses, which included 736 intermediate and high-level licenses and 203 students participated in the off-campus skill competitions and won 203 awards. In addition, one students from the Department of Tourism and Hospitality won the Excellence Award in the “Outstanding Technical and Vocational Education Award.” One student from the Department Information and E-Commerce Management won the top three female resource reserve officer award. A student from the Early ChildCare Department won the gold and silver medals in the German IIIC award. A Marketing Department Student won the 4th place in the MOE National Technical College Student Practice Project Competition. A Department of Tourism and Hospitality student passed the first female unmanned plant protection machine in Taiwan. In order to improve the entrepreneurial dream space, the TransWorld Future Entrepreneurial Cultivation Practice Base was established. TransWorld also has provided financial assistance to 1,339 disadvantaged students, which was about 51.86% of all disadvantaged students on campus.

       For “Cultivate Locally in Yunlin,” there were 4 action plans to achieve important performances, such as assisting the Yunlin Government in organizing high-equality food activities, included“2018 Food Art Festival—Travel in Yunlin International Food and Art Exchange, “ “Hakka Tung Flower Festival,” and “Taiwanese Banquet Cultural Feast.” TransWorld signed the “Yunlin Local Creation Cooperation” and “Bilingual Policy Cooperation” and revitalized the Dapi Sauerkraut Museum. TransWorld worked with local community and held Elementary School Drawing Competition “Summer Fun Art,” “TransWorld Art Corner,” “Charity Sale—Second-Hand Book Donation,” “Pull Your Sleeves, Help Clean,” “Thousands people Blood Donation and Free Haircut,” Community Care activity “Hand Bike around Yunlin,” “Big Hands with Small Hands—English Learning Companion for the Remote Teaching,” and “Taste of Yunlin, My Home: Antique Children’s Toy Exhibition.”

       For “Increase Taiwanese Value,” there were 6 action plans to achieve important performances, such as participated in two international competitions, Development of Innovative and Characteristic 3D Games and Intelligent Interactive Navigation App. Dr. Shumin Hsu won the “2019 15th Golden Torch Award-Outstanding Manager Award.” TransWorld has held “TransWorld Diabolo Competition” to promote traditional art, worked with a TV program for the documentary films of “Taiwanese Catering,” “King of Banquets,” and “IKA German Olympic, Journey to the Gold Medal,” and hold the “Culinary Art Apprenticeship Ceremony” every year. TransWorld implemented Campus Volunteers and provided volunteering service for the local community.

       At last, for “Connect with Southeast Asia,” there were 6 action plans to achieve important performances, such as incased international student population. Currently there are 747 international students. Held exchanges between international students and high school vocational students with 207 people counts and “Light-up-the-wish Tree” for giving gifts to disadvantaged children in Yunlin, Taitung, and Malaysia. Other activities also included “Picture Book Story Telling,” “World Campion of Sugar Carving Bread Art,” Japanese Tamagoyaki observation workshop, Japanese Koyamadai Cultural Exchange, and foreign language team service for the Asian Dodgeball Championship.
